Hoover Recalls WindTunnel Canister Vacuums Due to Fire and Shock Hazards  In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Hoover Inc., of Glenwillow, Ohio, is voluntarily recalling about 142,000 Hoover® WindTunnel Canister Vacuums. The power cord between the power nozzle and the wand connector can short-circuit posing fire and shock hazards to consumers. This condition can occur even if the vacuum has been turned off but left plugged in.

AmerTac Recalls Night Lights Due to Fire and Burn Hazard  In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, American Tack & Hardware Co. Inc. (AmerTac), of Saddle River, N.J., is voluntarily recalling about 261,000 LED Night Lights. An electrical short circuit in the night light can cause it to overheat and smolder or melt, which can burn consumers or result in fire.

MIKI HOUSE USA Recalls Children’s Hooded Jackets Due to Strangulation Hazard  In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, MIKI HOUSE USA Inc. of New York, is voluntarily recalling about 10 Windbreaker Jackets. The jackets contain drawstrings which pose strangulation and entrapment hazards to young children.

Simplex Fire Alarm Control Panels Recalled by Tyco Safety Products Westminster Due to Failure to Alert Monitoring Centers In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Tyco Safety Products Westminster of Westminster, Mass., is voluntarily recalling about 540 Simplex fire alarm control panels. The recalled fire alarm control panels can fail to send a signal to alert monitoring centers in the event of a fire.

Snow Bikes Recalled by Tech 4 Kids Due to Fall Hazard  In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Tech 4 Kids Inc., of Canada, is voluntarily recalling about 2,100 OUTER EDGE snow bikes. The front ski can crack or break, causing the snow bike to stop suddenly and posing a fall hazard to consumers.

Portable Space Heaters Recalled by PD Sixty Distributor Due to Fire Hazard  In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, PD Sixty Distributor Inc., of Norcross, Ga., is voluntarily recalling about 3,000 Portable space heaters. The space heater can overheat due to loose electrical connections, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

Lasko Recalls Portable Electric Heaters Due To Fire Hazard In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Lasko Products Inc., of West Chester, Pa., is voluntarily recalling about 107,500 portable electric heaters. An electrical connection in the base of the unit can overheat, causing it to melt and expose the electrical connection, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

Escalade Sports Recalls Oasis Playsets Due to Fall Hazard  In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Escalade Sports of Evansville, Ind., is voluntarily recalling about 4,600 Outdoor playsets. The swing seats on the playsets can crack and break in half, causing the user to fall to the ground.

WARNING: Generation 2 Worldwide “SafetyCraft” Brand Drop-Side Cribs Pose Risks of Strangulation, Suffocation; Hardware Linked to Deaths and Injuries  The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers that “SafetyCraft” brand full-size and portable drop-side cribs manufactured or distributed by Generation 2 Worldwide of Dothan, Alabama, contain drop-side hardware that appears to be identical to Generation 2 Worldwide ChildESIGNS brand drop-side cribs recalled in February 2010. This hardware found on SafetyCraft drop-side cribs can fail and place infants and toddlers at risk of strangulation and suffocation. CPSC staff urges parents and caregivers to stop using these cribs immediately and find an alternative, safe sleeping environment for their baby. Do not attempt to fix these cribs.

Sunbeam Products Inc. Recalls Convertible Irons Due to Fire Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Bed, Bath & Beyond In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Sunbeam Products Inc., Boca Raton, Fla., is voluntarily recalling about 5,700 convertible clothes irons. The iron can overheat and cause a fire because of a wiring issue, posing a risk of burn injury to consumers.

DeVilbiss Recalls Air Compressors Due to Fire Hazard  In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, DeVilbiss Air Power Company of Jackson, Tenn., is voluntarily recalling about 460,000 air compressors. The air compressor motor can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

CPSC Extends Stay of Enforcement for Testing and Certification of Lead Content in Children’s Products Until December 31, 2011  The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) voted 4-1 on January 31, 2011 to extend the stay of enforcement for testing and certification of lead content in children’s products (except for metal components of children’s metal jewelry) until December 31, 2011.

Briggs & Stratton Recalls Model 40 V-Twin Engine Due to Injury Hazard; Used on Sears, Husqvarna, Bad Boy Riding Mowers  In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Briggs & Stratton Corporation, Milwaukee, Wis., is voluntarily recalling about 50 Briggs & Stratton Model 40 V-Twin engines. Wear on misrouted wiring may cause it to disconnect from the shut-off device, allowing the engine to continue running when the key is in the “OFF” position or when the operator gets off the seat while the mower is engaged, posing an injury hazard to consumers.
