Replacing a fuse in an electrical device is fairly simple, but you must make sure you use the recommended fuse size for the device. By using the recommended fuse size, there will be a decreased risk of a fire hazard.

If you are ever finding yourself needing to replace a fuse in an electrical device, make sure you locate the recommended fuse size to ensure that you are replacing with the proper fuse. Using a different fuse size may not seem like a big deal, but really, it is like putting diesel in a gasoline engine. It just won’t work. Running electricity through a fuse that is not big enough can cause circuits to overheat and create a fire hazard.

Milestone Electric would like to share ‘Home Safety Tip No. 106’

Never bend or break off the ground on the end of an appliance or device plug. These are required on all non-double insulated appliances. Without this ground present, if you come into contact with an electrical current you become the ground. The result is electrical shock.

Remember, never to break or bend these grounds. It compromises the integrity of the device and possibly voids the warranty. You may someday suffer electrocution from the device.

Yesterday in Lubbock, Texas there was a house fire that destroyed a home. Luckily there were no injuries reported. The Fire Marshal’s office was called out to investigate, and found that the cause could have been an overloaded extension cord.

This fire was started by an overloaded extension cord on the outside of the home. The fire spread from the outside cord to the inside of the home. Not only did this home have an overloaded extension cord, the home also had smoke detectors that did not function correctly. Thankfully nobody was hurt in the fire.
